SYS won the outstanding energy award for creative energy in industry and services from the Thailand Energy Awards 2021 held by the Ministry of Energy.
Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), Ministry of Energy organizes the Thailand Energy Awards in 2021 to show appreciation and commendation to factories, buildings, personnel and supporters who voluntarily support energy conservation and renewable energy development onwards. The company has outstanding results until it is evident and is a good example for various organizations to share and learn with those who are interested. It also encourages the participation of relevant personnel at all levels. In addition, has also selected the winners of the contest to represent Thailand to compete at the ASEAN and other international levels until it is proudly successful every year.
Most recently, Siam Yamato Steel Co., Ltd. or SYS, a manufacturer of H-beam & Wide Flange for more than 25 years, won an outstanding award for creative energy in the industry and service from the work titled “AI Optimization Arcing Profile”. There were 4 employees who submitted their work to the contest and received an award, namely Ms. Jatuporn Pratana, Ms. Worasit Kaewsringam, Ms. Chanyuth Moonsee, and Ms. Wanasphon Thephakan under the concept of using AI in the melting process of the EAF process. As a result, it reduces overall electrical, chemical, and CO2 emissions by 4% (46,080 GJ/year) as well as reducing pollution comparable to planting 310,000 trees and can also reduce costs by up to 4.2% or about 17 million baht/year.
Mr. Jatuporn Pratana, a representative of the SYS team, stated that “Prior to submitting our work started with our desire to reduce energy consumption in our factories or use energy as efficiently as possible. We initialed to figure out the right process. In the beginning, we had a visit at the Yamato Kogyo Plant, the parent company in Japan, and tried to apply the technology at SYS and continually developed until we were able to achieve and win this award.”
“As for the story of the AI Optimization Arcing Profile, it presents the concept of using AI in the scrap metal smelting process. Previously, the staff in charge of this section would only control the electrical power of the static scrap melting according to the specified standards. But with the introduction of AI to help decision-making, it is possible to adjust the energy consumption to suit the conditions in the furnace. It can reduce excess energy consumption. In addition, energy can also be set according to the condition of the scrap to be used for smelting.”
“This project has helped us to reduce the cost, energy consumption and carbon footprint of the world in large numbers. It is another milestone for our success as SYS with its stance and goal of doing business in a socially responsible manner.” Mr. Jatuporn stated.
