In the production process, making the H-beam components 100% symmetrical or centered is quite difficult. As a result, the web or the flange would slightly shift to the left or right. We call this asymmetry as Web off Center, or what\u2019s specified in the TIS standard as Eccentricity (S). The TIS standard has specified the Web off Center, or Eccentricity (S), at not over 2.5 mm. The figure indicates the value by which we can still use the steel for further welding or connecting without any issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Less eccentricity results in easier connection<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>     When the steel is shifted to its left or right at a value that exceeds the standard, it\u2019ll make steel connections overlap and the seam may need to be thicker while inspection of welding and quality control also become more difficult. Also, if the steel used has a high eccentricity, when connecting multiple steel bars, it may result in the centerline of the structure being misaligned, leading to inaccuracy in calculation. Problems occur when it needs to support weight, as the weight will not align down along the structure, which potentially causes damage to the construction. SYS becomes aware of the problem and the needs, thus adjusting and controlling the production of hot-rolled structural steel. Steel in general would limit the value to that required by TIS, but at SYS, we have put our efforts to minimize the web off center value or Eccentricity (S) to be even as low as 1-2 mm to heighten
