The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center has undergone a major renovation and transformation, with more than 95% of the work already completed. The remaining work is being accelerated to ensure that the venue is ready to host this year\u2019s APEC meeting. As the project\u2019s new image places sustainability at its core, including its goal of becoming an environmentally friendly green building, SYS has become part of the project by supplying the primary material for the building\u2019s roof structure.<\/p>\n
As this is a large-scale building, the roof structural components were prepared using a factory prefabrication system, enabling fast on-site installation despite the structure\u2019s considerable size. The use of Customized Length products from SYS also helped make the construction process more convenient. In addition to facilitating construction, SYS structural steel also met the project\u2019s requirements in terms of budget and environmental considerations, in line with the project\u2019s overall direction.<\/p>\n

The latest renovation and redesign of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center was not only intended to modernize the building and bring it up to international standards, but also to incorporate sustainability and environmental considerations. The construction process was designed to reduce dust pollution and construction waste by as much as 75%. The building was also designed to connect its interior and exterior spaces, making this nationally significant venue sustainably friendly to the city, its people, and the environment.<\/p>\n
SYS H-BEAM is already an environmentally responsible material. It is produced domestically using more than 95% recycled steel scrap, through manufacturing processes and technologies certified by both domestic and international organizations. The H-BEAM steel used in this project therefore aligns with the project\u2019s construction approach, which aims to reduce pollution and minimize waste at the construction site. This is an important factor in helping the project meet its planned green building criteria more effectively.<\/p>\n

SYS H-BEAM steel was used for the roof structure. The project selected both high-strength SM520-grade steel and Customized Length products from SYS, which allowed the steel to be manufactured in the exact lengths required. Some parts of the roof structure at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center also used a new H-BEAM size that was specifically developed and used for the first time in this project. The combined use of Customized Length products and the new H-BEAM size also helped significantly reduce the overall structural cost.<\/p>\n
Although the building is large and consists of numerous structural components, SYS coordinated with the designers and contractors from the beginning to jointly plan the use of materials and the construction process. The structural components were prepared at the factory using a prefabrication system, allowing them to be installed immediately upon arrival at the construction site. As a result, the on-site installation of the roof structure was convenient, continuous, and completed efficiently.<\/p>\n

SYS H-BEAM steel is manufactured domestically. In addition to its strength and durability, its production technology is continuously developed to deliver high-quality structural steel that meets international environmental standards. As a result, SYS structural steel has been certified and accepted in numerous countries around the world for more than 25 years.<\/p>\n
The Queen Sirikit National Convention Center was renovated with a direction and vision that reflect Thailand\u2019s progress in keeping pace with the modern world. By being used as part of the convention center\u2019s roof structure, SYS H-BEAM steel has become another important element in helping the project achieve its goals. It has also contributed to enhancing the international recognition of the renovated convention center in terms of construction materials, manufacturing processes, construction methods, environmental responsibility, and sustainability.<\/p>\n
